February 21st, 2017

Hello families and friends,

Welcome back!  I hope that you all had a good long weekend.  We started off our day with sharing and writing about our weekends.  We also read the story "exclamation mark" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal, and the students were challenged to include at least one exclamation mark in their writing.  When would you use an exclamation mark, and post one sentence that uses one in the comments below.  After that we did a special Making Words using the letters in the words "One Hundred Days" for our hundredth day of school.  We also practiced our Read to Self and Read to Someone skills.  In the afternoon we started with our mental math warmup, and then worked on showing as many ways as we can to represent the number 100.  Then we made some cool 100th day of school glasses, and continued some work on our fractal tree scratch art.

Tomorrow is Pink Shirt Day!  Pink Shirt Day was started to put a stop to bullying and promote kindness.  Show your support by wearing your pink!

Next week we will be going swimming from Monday to Thursday.  If you have not sent in your child's permission forms for this please do so by this Thursday, February 23rd.  I need to know if other arrangements will need to be made for your child during the afternoons, as they will be unable to come with us if the forms have not been returned.

Have a great afternoon,
Mr. Soulliere
